Dave Rohr, widely known as "Sailor Dave," has been leaving his mark on the tattoo industry for nearly 30 years. Growing up in Licking County, Ohio, his journey into body art began in 1997 in Zanesville, where he apprenticed under a veteran artist. Driven by the desire to improve upon the "bad ones" he saw—and drawn to the unique lifestyle the industry provides—he dedicated himself to mastering the craft.

Before establishing his current legacy, Dave spent several grueling years in the commercial fishing industry, working as a king crab fisherman in the unforgiving waters of Alaska. This maritime background earned him his moniker and inspired his shop's deep-rooted nautical themes. Over his career, Sailor Dave has shared his heavy lines and custom craftsmanship across the country, running shops and tattooing in California, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, and his home state of Ohio.

As a well-rounded artist, Dave specializes in transforming past mistakes through expert cover-ups, taking pride in fixing old tattoos. His extensive portfolio ranges from black and grey to vibrant color pieces, encompassing custom large-scale works, traditional clocks and roses, nature landscapes, and detailed script.

Dave treats every tattoo as a lifelong investment—one that won't wear out like a car or a set of tires. He blends raw, old-school tradition with modern precision, utilizing digital sketching so clients can see exactly what they are getting ahead of time.
